The name comes from the defining developmental milestone of this age: sitting up. At six months, most babies can sit — either independently or with very light support — for the first time. This ability unlocks a completely new set of poses and prop setups that simply aren't possible with younger babies.
The sitter session captures this specific milestone window at its most photogenic peak — before the sitting transforms into crawling, and the baby becomes too mobile for controlled setups.

How to Prepare for Your 6-Month Session
Book Early
The ideal window is between 5.5 and 6.5 months — after the baby can sit with support but before they become too mobile and distractable. Book 3–4 weeks in advance to secure your preferred slot.
Bring 2–3 Outfits
Multiple outfit changes allow for variety in the session. We recommend one "hero" outfit for the main themed setup and one simpler, more neutral look for the clean portrait shots.
Schedule in the Happy Window
Six-month-olds are more predictable than newborns. Know your baby's best time of day — that 1–2 hour window when they are fed, rested, and at peak cheerfulness — and schedule around it.
